While some pharmaceutical companies are leveraging the option of substituting the entire traditional Advisory Board with a virtual meeting, there remains much value in face-to-face meetings supported by specialized digital collaboration platforms. In order to truly replace a traditional meeting such digital tools need to address requirements particular to pharmaceutical Advisory Boards, in addition to standard features, such as agenda or presentation management:
- smaller groups with a limited number of participants
- high level of interactivity introducing augmented learning into traditional didactic presentations
- user segmentation into faculty and advisers, with an opportunity to challenge individual advisers to invest into process through the further user-level customization of the tool
- very secure data collection, exchange and storing
- polling and evaluation features
- integration of published articles and clinical data
The Interactive Meeting Platform for Advisory Boards and Health Education was custom designed and developed by Code Revolt to meet such requirements. Participants of each meeting, Advisers and Faculty alike, use iPADs with the Interactive Advisory Board App installed. The app consist of an Agenda, Faculty Presentations with the personal Notes interface, Worksheets with immediate aggregate responses, Evaluation Forms and the Q&A module. The app is wirelessly driven from the Faculty’s master device, with local functionality available to individual Advisers. All of the data is collected at the central server, and the results are immediately available in tabular and graphic formats.
The app is Ad-Hoc deployed on client’s own or rented Apple’s tablet devices, while server modules and APIs are hosted on the CodeRevolt’s Microsoft Windows platform. The app is developed as native iOS apps in the Objective-C/Cocoa framework/Swift environment, with all resources installed with the app, offering access to important features even in the offline mode. Apple iOS Core Data is used to cache data locally, on the device. Server side consisting of multiple components exposes REST APIs for the communication to the client. Server components were developed in the C#/.NET/SQL technology, running on Microsoft Windows OS and using Microsoft’s SQL Server 2012 for persistent data storing.
